A Visit At Stefan Loeliger’s Lab
Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Swiss photographer Stefan Loeliger at his laboratory.
Stefan has a wondeful body of analogue work (check his site!) which he still processes and hand prints in his lab. The quality he achieves is stunning. He has a whole wall with wonderful prints, some printed digitally (from scans of his handmade prints) and some from the chemical process.
In a way the results are similar but there’s still something to the chemical prints which makes them stand out…
For me as a completely digital kid it was really interesting to see all that. We made plans to do a side by side project where he shoots with his Hasselblad and me with the 5D alongside. Then we’ll compare the digital and analogue post process and see what the final results have in common and what not. Shall be an interesting day!
